Jason And The Seven - A Story Of Odd Sorts (part 2)

May 11th, 2008 by HitMan

Rebecca hung upside down from the seatbelt in her Nissan Sentra. The roof was now the floor and her long brown hair trailed along the fabric. She had no idea how long she had been hanging upside down, but the blood was pounding loudly in her ears. Rebecca found that she was unable to move except for her neck. She turned her head to the left and found herself staring eyeball to eyeball with a pair of startled blue eyes. She strained to see more, but could only tell there was a young man outside her car who also appeared to be suspended upside down, but without the confines of a seatbelt to hold him there.

“Uh… hello there. I’m Jason” he said, a bit stunned.

“Can you help me get out of here,” She asked.

“Hmmm… let’s see.”

Jason hesitated as he looked around. He found that a pipe had some how managed to catch his suspenders and that was what kept him from hitting the ground. Did he want to deal with this or keep running? Yet she seemed genuinely sweet and, well, normal, and Jason was a bit tired of having to deal with his other dysfunctional personalities. He managed to get himself off the pipe and on solid ground. “Can you reach and release your safety belt?”

“I don’t know.” She tried to move and surprisingly, her arms were slowly coming back to life. She untangled herself and with Jason’s help, squiggled out of her flattened car.

“Thank you. I’m Rebecca by the way.”

“Nice to meet you. Let’s go,” said Jason.

“Wait. My handbag!”

Rebecca wiggled halfway back into the car. Jason heard her fumbling and grunting as she pushed debris out of the way. “Got it! Help me get back out.”

Brutus, personality five, came out. “Ugh. Brutus help girl!” He grabbed her by the angles giving her a strong sharp tug. Her body came through the window quickly, ripping her shirt. Dust rose into the air as her body was dragged through the dirt.

“What—“ coughing, “are you doing you idiot!”

“Brutus help…” Brutus faded out and Jason back in. He saw her lying there on the ground in the dirt. She was staring up at him, the corners of her mouth cocked in agitation. “Umm…Brutus right?”

Her facial expression went from agitation to puzzlement. “No I’m Rebecca. You helped me out of the car? I got my purse and you said,” changing to a deeper voice, “Brutus help girl,” then back to a normal voice, “and the next thing I know I’m being yanked out of the car. Are you psycho?”

He shook his head vigorously, “No, No. Sorry. I have some… well… personalities that come out from time to time. It’s a long story… but I’m safe really.”

Scarlett came out. She placed one hand on her hip and fanned herself with the other, “Oh my, sweetie! You are simply a mess! What for heaven sakes are you doing sitting on the ground? And your shirt! You have a tear in it! Tsk Tsk that just won’t do!” She put her hand out to help Rebecca up.

Rebecca hesitated for a moment and then took the offered hand. She dusted her clothes off then reached down to get her purse. She looked at Scarlett, “And you are?”

“I’m Jason. I told you that already.” He was a bit confused. “Wait. One of them was just here weren’t they?”

“Yes. The Southern Belle?” she said raising an eyebrow.

“That… was Scarlett… Don’t look at me that way. Trust me. If I could control them I would.”

“Have you seen anyone about… them? How many are there?”

“Well… there are seven besides me.” He looked at the ground. “Honest. I’m safe.”
Rebecca chuckled, “Weird. But then today has been nothing but weird.”

“You’re telling me. But I didn’t do it. Honest. I wasn’t drinking and I wasn’t the cause of any of this.” Bones flipped open his cell phone. “Damn back woods planet. I’m amazed the human race made it as far as it did.”
